A Holiday Tea with Chef Gale Gand

Join us for a festive afternoon at Lily Pad Mahjong Parlor as we celebrate the holiday season with a special high tea, delicious treats, and, of course, mahjong!

We’re so excited to welcome back Gale Gand, a two-time James Beard Award-winning pastry chef and one of Chicago’s most celebrated culinary names. Gale is a former chef and partner of Chicago’s Michelin two-star restaurant Tru, hosted Food Network’s Sweet Dreams for 10 years, and has authored eight cookbooks. We’re thrilled to have her back at Lily Pad for another special event!

We’ll begin the afternoon with a beautiful holiday high tea featuring traditional tea sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and a selection of teas. Gale will be joining us for this festive tea experience, bringing her incredible culinary background and love of all things sweet to the parlor.

After enjoying our holiday tea, we’ll move into Open Play mahjong for the remainder of the afternoon! It's the perfect opportunity to enjoy some friendly games, catch up with friends, and celebrate the season together.

Join us on Saturday, December 5th, from 2:00–5:00 PM for three hours of holiday fun, delicious food, and mahjong!

Open Play Seating

We always do our best to create full tables of 4 for Open Play and group players with others at a similar skill level. However, table assignments are based on the players who sign up for each session, so you may occasionally be seated with players at a different skill level than the one you selected. Last-minute cancellations, no-shows, and changes in attendance can also affect table assignments and are outside of our control. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we do our best to create fun, well-matched tables for everyone!

Location & Parking

We’re located right near the corner of Addison & Clark, just a few doors down from Wrigley Field in the heart of Lakeview. It’s a lively neighborhood with lots happening year-round—Cubs games, concerts, the Christkindlmarket, special events at Gallagher Way, and all kinds of neighborhood festivals and shows. Because of that, traffic and parking can shift a bit depending on what’s going on nearby.

Booking Policy

Our sessions are small and every seat matters to the group. We appreciate your understanding and support of our small business.

• Reschedule requests must be made at least 72 hours in advance.
• If plans change and you contact us before the 72-hour window, we will do our best to help with store credit.
• Inside the 72-hour window (including same-day changes and no-shows), we are unable to offer store credit or rescheduling.
• All tickets are final sale; we do not offer cash refunds or ticket transfers.
